The Ducks go Tri

After 20 years as the primary (only!) running club in Dunston, the Ducks (Paul and Russ) are moving on to Triathlons and have convinced a few other local residents to join with them– one way to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee!

Therefore on Sunday 3rd June the following ducks will be competing in the Woodhall Spa sprint triathlon, Paul Duncan, Russ McLuckie, Paul Coatup and daughter Hazel, the Andrew sisters, Catherine and Tracy and Kim Stansfield. Unfortunately Mike Hutchinson has retired with an injury. For the majority this will be their first event and some will be seeking sponsorship for good causes so please contact them directly if you wish to sponsor.

Whilst not running as Ducks there are other residents who are participating in the event Paul and Sadie Aubrey and newly arrived village resident Mike Taylor – all 3 running in the colours of Lincoln Tri but that’s okay!

Oh and we’ll be the teetotal group at the street party on the 2nd!

Tree Felling.

North Kesteven District Council is warning residents to be extra vigilant when dealing with canvassers offering door-to-door tree-felling services. Residents should be wary of employing people who may not be qualified or insured to carry out such tree or shrub works, and should be extra cautious regarding the legal constraints of working on trees in Conservation Areas without submission of notification to the North Kesteven District Council. Householders could find themselves at risk of serious fines if they act on the advice of so-called ‘experts’. Residents are advised to be extra vigilant and ensure that these canvassers have chainsaw qualifications for both works at ground and at height as well as a waste carrier’s licence. They will also need to be insured to carry out tree or shrub works. North Kesteven District Council’s Tree Officers can give general advice and guidance.  email: tree_officers@n-kesteven.gov.uk

Dunston Dossier Table Top Sale

Another successful event despite the terrible weather!!

We raised sufficient money to buy 3 new collapsible card tables for use in the Village Hall. They are multi-purpose and can be used for card games, meetings and as refreshment tables.

The Dunston Hub has used some of the money raised at monthly Hubs to buy another 3 of these card tables and has donated them to the Village Hall.   These 6 new tables will be in use at the next Hub on the 10th May.

Anglian Water Hosepipe Ban Restrictions 2012

The hosepipe ban water restrictions started on April 5th 2012. Despite a month of rain we are still designated

to be in drought. It will take several months of consistent rain to replenish the aquafur after two very dry winters.

Hosepipes cannot be used to water plants, lawns, gardens, clean cars or windows, fill ponds or swimming

pools etc. For more details click here .      Full details are available on the Anglian Water website.

Gas Supply: Although there has been a fair response regarding a gas supply to the village, the National Grid does

not think that the number interested will warrant a costly feasibility study.  With the financial constraints on

spending at the moment and the cost involved in carrying out a study,  the National Grid, who deal with the

provision of gas supply lines, would be looking for at least a quarter of all properties in Dunston to consider a

gas supply.  To date this number has not been achieved.

If the situation changes then we will raise this issue again in the future.
